Hummingbird Blossoms Owner Nancy Gallagher discovered her passion for flowers at age five. Her greatest life mentor was her Master Gardener father, Hugh, who shared his special love of gardening with Nancy. He guided her first sales of his roses in their home driveway. Nancy's calling for floral design was fueled by her father's appreciation for nature and all living things. Her talents grew along with the family's floral shop, which for decades provided floral services in New Jersey and New York. Over her career, Nancy has overseen floral productions for over 10,000 events, large and small, from family to corporate. The New Jersey native was highly recommended by the finest and most renowned venues in both states.
During her college years, Nancy resided in San Diego and marveled at the region's floral beauty. In recent years, she is grateful for having found herself back San Diego, whose beautiful climate allows for an abundance of floral growth and the year-round opportunities to work outdoors, while supporting local farms, nurseries and vendors.
Nancy's mother was also a key life guide for her. Her Mom served the community by donating her time reading the newspaper and singing on radio shows for blind audiences. Inspired by her mother's "gratitude for sight", she continues her mother's legacy to this day, serving as the Board President for the Friends of Braille Institute, San Diego. In volunteering, she teaches floral workshops to visually impaired children and adults and assists with fundraising efforts. In addition, she donates time and effort to the Disabled American Veterans, and to other charities benefitting terminally ill and disabled children, and abused animals.
Nancy truly enjoys understanding her clients' needs and working closely with them to express their visions through floral design. Nancy is always proud to put her passion and personal creative touch into every floral service and event. For her, the floral promise is a family legacy that gives her the honor to touch many lives through sharing her lifelong love of flowers.
